Recently I told a story onstage at Homework about Wash Club: an underground society that test their endurance by climbing inside tumble driers. Here’s the story again, now on Radio 4′s excellent documentary series Short Cuts. There’s a clip on the homepage, or you can download the full episode. 

If you’re interesting in coming to a Homework event, they usually run from May to November each year at Bethnal Green Workingmen’s Club, usually on the last Wednesday of the month. I run it with a group of resident writers: Joe Dunthorne, Luke Wright, John Osborne and Tim Clare. It’s a sort-of scratch night. Each month we give ourselves a new theme or form to grapple with. Our final event this season is on the 27th November. We’re going to be exploring the chat show as a literary device. I’ve already bought a toupee. Here’s our tumblr:
